Careful consideration is given to the selection of applicants with greatest emphasis placed upon the applicant’s scholastic performance (academic GPA), and the quality of academic preparation (curriculum).
GPA Requirements:
We do not have a "minimum GPA requirement." This means we will consider any GPA; however, most competitive students have an academic GPA of 2.5 or higher. Our average incoming GPA is about a 3.0.
Additional Credentials:
The following credentials are not required for admission, but can influence the Admission Committee’s decision and are strongly recommended:
- Standardized testing - *SAT I, *ACT and/or TOEFL
- Letter(s) of recommendations and personal statement/essay
- Interview with an Admission Counselor
*SAT/ACT scores are used for Merit Scholarship consideration and potential waiver of placement testing for college-level Math and English courses.
Curriculum:
Although not required for admission consideration, Marymount College strongly recommends the completion of the following college preparatory curriculum pattern:
- 4 years of English
- 3 years of Mathematics (Algebra 1, Geometry and Intermediate Algebra),
- 2 years of History/Social Sciences
- 2 years of Natural Science
- 2 years of Foreign Language
- 1-2 years of Academic Elective courses
Weighted credit is given to AP, IB, and Honors courses.
Who Should Apply:
The College invites applications from the following:
- Students who have graduated from an American high school or foreign secondary school and are applying as first-year college students.
- Students who wish to transfer from another college or university.
- Students who have successfully completed the California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) or the General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Students who have completed three or more years of high school and wish to seek early admission through Marymount’s Early College Program.
- Returning or Adult students who are interested in completing their Bachelor of Arts degree.
