Message from the Provost

Faith. In Your Future.

Consistent with the Catholic mission of our College, the Academic Affairs Division seeks to develop knowledge and wisdom through a values-based education for students of all faiths. With a dedicated, caring faculty and a nurturing environment where your academic achievement and personal aspirations are priorities, you will gain faith in yourself and accomplish your goals.

Indeed, achieving goals is the hallmark of a Marymount education. It is reflected in the success of thousands of our graduates who have gone on to complete their educations and embark on productive careers and lives. Faith. It is the secret of our success.

We pride ourselves on an extraordinary commitment to helping students gain the tools and knowledge to succeed in school and well beyond.  So when we say we have faith in your future, you can believe that everyone here at Marymount College wants you to excel in all areas of your life.  With Bachelor’s Degree programs to fit your educational goals, we also have the resources to get you where you want to go.  Come see what Marymount College has to offer and you can see what we mean about having faith in all that you can achieve.

Among the many recent accomplishments at the College, we experienced a transformational year in 2010-2011 as we made the transition to becoming a four-year college and are now building actively on that momentum. With significant investments in facilities, faculty, staff, curriculum, and technology, we are poised to serve growing enrollments in each of our programs while maintaining our average class size of 17 and the caring, personal learning environment our students know and love. We are also continually expanding opportunities to integrate the rich cultural and economic opportunities of the Los Angeles region into our students’ living and learning experience. For decades we have offered residence halls to our students in the San Pedro section of L.A. Today, students enjoy a multi-site enterprise, with the main campus in RPV, two recently remodeled residential sites in San Pedro, and our most recent Waterfront campus in San Pedro, which serves as a state-of-the-art base for upper division study in business, global studies, and psychology.  Our facilities are further complemented by a vibrant service learning program at the Boys and Girls Club, theater at the Warner Grand, NAIA soccer at L.A.’s Home Depot Sports Complex, a lively local art scene, and a growing network of study abroad partnerships and internship opportunities. As we have made Los Angeles our classroom, we have continued to deliver high-quality learning experiences to students, regardless of where their classroom is located. Of course, our main campus continues to serve as the primary resource for all our students.

Our programs in Business, Media Studies, Psychology, Biomedical Science, Global Studies, and Liberal Arts are all complemented by an array of experiential learning and research opportunities. So whether you are preparing for graduate school or a career, whether you are exploring interests or pursuing a specific path, your undergraduate experience at Marymount can give you the best possible start!

I am certain you will find that Marymount College offers an exceptional environment that promotes a positive learning experience and successful achievement of your own goals.  We look forward to showing you what faith can do at Marymount College!
