Advising & Transfer Center

Welcome to the Office of Advising and Transfer Services

As you begin to experience the challenges, opportunities, and great accomplishments that lie ahead of you, know that you have an experienced team on your side. People who know that being on your own for the first time can make you a little unsure of which route to take.

Your academic advisor, through the Advising and Transfer Center, is your primary source of information, advice and support as you make the academic choices that will determine your future, either on a plan to earn an AA or BA from Marymount College or transfer to another four year institution. We want to help educate you so that you can make informed decisions for yourself about your future – what you want to study, who you want to be, how you want to live. After all, it's your future.

Understanding where to find information, resources and materials is the first step toward making you more comfortable with the many decisions that lie ahead. We can help you find and determine:
·         Requirements
1.       To earn a Marymount College Associate Degree
2.       Transfer to a four year institution
3.       To earn a Marymount College BA degree

·         Marymount College's policies and procedures
1.       Drop/Add classes
2.       Withdraw
3.       Course load
4.       Prerequisites

·         Information about the transfer process

   2.       Majors
   3.       Articulation Agreements
   4.       Contacts

  3.       Counseling Services
  4.       Student Life

    1.       Requirements
    2.       Consequences of failure to meet

Once you know where to access these important pieces of information, you will have created a solid base from which to continue your academic advancement. Being an adult, a college student, and an independent person does not negate the need for input when your future awaits. Your advisor, your professors, and the staff of the Advising and Transfer Center can contribute their expertise and guidance as you need it. We can give you the tools you will need to:

register for appropriate classes that meet degree requirements, the IGETC or CSU certification requirements, or the transfer agreements to a four-year institution.

research the Marymount College catalog for information regarding policies, procedures, and deadline dates.

access websites and catalogs for transfer information, including required general education courses as well as courses required for your major.

        fill out a graduation application.

complete an admission application for transfer to a four-year school.

The knowledge that you can perform these tasks for yourself will carry forward into any decision you have to make later in life. Take your future into your own hands and use the tools that Marymount College can provide for you. At graduation, you should be able to test yourself with the following:

Through meetings I've had with my advisor, I have chosen goals that are based on my own skills, abilities, aptitudes, and interests.

I now make choices about my education by researching the facts, analyzing that information and applying what I've learned to my goals.

I appreciate that I can access information about Marymount graduation requirements, courses for my major, and schools to which I want to transfer.

I know that the decisions I make may affect the choices I have related to graduation and transfer.

I know that in order to be successful my choice of a major must be based on my academic abilities. I know that, ultimately, the choices I make will determine my level of academic success.
