Learning Center Facility and Personnel

The Learning Center provides a welcoming environment for individual and collaborative study, with tables and comfortable chairs, and a self-serve coffee bar, which is a nice gathering point.  Individual study carrels, equipped with TV/VCR/ DVDs and audio cassette players, provide a spot for those seeking a bit more privacy. A multiple-user TV/VCR/DVD station is also available.

The Learning Center’s provides six stations linked to a common high-speed printer. It provides a wireless internet "hot-spot" where students and faculty members often gather with their laptops. An adjacent proctoring room provides space with minimized distraction for testing to accommodate students with disabilities. This room is available to students for quiet study or access to scanning and screen reading technology when not used for proctoring.

The Learning Center uses a nearby classroom for the Mariner Math Homework Assistance Center. Launched in spring 2009, the center is staffed by peer tutors who have completed calculus and provides a place for math homework completion with a competent tutor available for  answering questions.  The Mariner Math Center operates Monday through Thursday beginning at 4 p.m.
